When I was first invited to attend the 2009 LegalTech New York show, I knew I couldn’t miss out on a day of shameless plugging of e-Lessons Learned and networking with some of the biggest names in the electronic discovery world. So this morning I cut class, threw on my best suit, grabbed a buddy, and traveled with PDA in hand to the Hilton NY.
I’ve never been to a LegalTech event, let alone any conference where my title was Chief Blog Officer, so I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I figured an event that sounds like the brain child of Johnny Cochran and MacGyver has to be interesting. Besides, Engadget gets the royal treatment at electronic tech shows — maybe an e-discovery blogger like myself could get some hookups at a predominantly e-discovery-related conference.
Boy, did I!
Blogger’s breakfast. Networking. Lunch sponsored by EDRM. Networking. Front row seating for bloggers at all the lectures. More networking. And did I mention the plethora of free pens? (A blogger occasionally inks, too!) But as much as I’d like to think that my new suit was the key to the special treatment, LegalTech provided all of these experiences freely to any person with some words on a web page.
Between private interviews with bigwigs like Law Technology News’ Monica Bay, and VIP seats to lectures such as Best Practices for Online Networking, to say that LegalTech is blogger friendly would be an understatement. It’s a haven!
Our unique and cutting edge blog, e-Lessons Learned, obtained several interviews from LegalTech to share, and we will be posting these as the video sources roll in.
And on behalf of eLLblog.com, a big thanks to LegalTech for being such a gracious host. We’ll be blogging about you in the days to come!
